The 1940 Willys is a four-wheel drive vehicle manufactured by the Willys-Overland company for the United States military during World War II. The vehicle became famous for its durability and off-road capability, serving as the primary workhorse for American troops. After the war, the Willys became a classic American icon and was later produced as a civilian model known as the Jeep CJ. The 1940 Willys came equipped with a flathead four-cylinder engine that produced 63 horsepower and had a top speed of 60 miles per hour.
