The 1972 Chevrolet Nova was a compact car that was part of the third generation of Novas produced from 1968 to 1974. The 1972 model year was the last year for the third generation Nova and the last year before the redesign of the fourth generation.
The 1972 Nova was available in a coupe, sedan, and wagon body style. It was offered in six different engines including a 250 cubic inch inline-6, three different V8 engines ranging from 307 to 350 cubic inches, and two high-performance V8 engines (a 396 and a 454 cubic inch engine).
The standard 1972 Nova featured a four-speed manual transmission with a column-mounted shifter. An optional three-speed Turbo Hydra-matic automatic transmission was also available.
Standard features included front and rear stabilizer bars, front disc brakes, and rocket panels integrated with the hood, as well as a color-keyed steering wheel, and a six-cylinder engine with an optional chromed valve cover and air cleaner.
As with most vehicles of this era, the fuel mileage was not great with the six-cylinder engine estimated at 13-14 mpg city and 18-20 mpg highway with the V8 engines rated accordingly.
The interior had a more modern look with a sporty, wrap-around dash design, and available options included air conditioning, power windows, and a premium audio system.
Today, the 1972 Nova is considered a classic car and is popular among car enthusiasts due to its affordability, easy modification, and widespread availability of parts.
